Alvin Joseph Adams Jr.

Alvin “Al” Joseph Adams, Jr., age 82, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Alvin was born on July 12, 1941 to the late Alvin “Van“ Adams, Sr. and Virginia DiMiceli Adams. He traveled often during his life, living primarily in Morgan City, Louisiana; Fostoria, Ohio; and Dallas, Texas. We are grateful that he was able to spend his last 18 months in his hometown of Morgan City, Louisiana.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, Van and Virginia; his siblings Anita Blanchard, Virginia Keller, Robert Adams; as well as his brothers-in-law Terry Blanchard and Raymond Keller. He was also preceded in death by his beloved standard poodles, Blanche and Mima.

Alvin is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Ann Adams, MD and Vanessa Adams Wilson, and their spouses Jon Peltier, Sr. and Mark Sieracki. He is also survived by the mother of his children Margaruite Williams; grandchildren, Sydney Treme’, Justin Treme’, Joshua Peltier, Maggie Wilson, Vanessa Peltier, Jon Peltier, Jr., and Dominic Sieracki. Additionally, he will be missed by special friends, Kathryn Hymel, Jolly and June Driskill and Christina Miller.

He leaves behind many cousins, including Leslie Ann Kuntz, as well as his nieces and nephews, Terry Theresa Blanchard Hover, Cheri Blanchard Guidry, Mark Blanchard, Michelle Keller Hoggart, Gary Keller, and Van Keller. Alvin was the last of his generation to pass, leaving his daughters, nieces and nephews to carry on the family’s legacy.

Alvin had a colorful career. He met Margaruite while traveling around the United States directing local community theater shows. He loved to talk about his time on “the road!”

He worked for years in factories as a manager and safety Director and loved to tell the tales of these experiences too. He also worked for several flower shops and co-owned Sterling’s Florist in Dallas with his brother Robert.

He loved Mardi Gras and all the pomp and circumstance. He designed costumes and sets for many of the local krewes through the years. Alvin was a spiritual soul. He prayed and read his Bible daily and was a proud member of the Knight’s of Columbus.

Alvin made friends everywhere he went. He loved to laugh and tell stories about his grandma and the old Italian ladies and his early adventures in Morgan City. He was spirited, feisty, opinionated and sometimes quick tempered, but always apologetic. He valued his independence until the very end, never wanting to worry anyone.

Thanks to the doctors and medical care professionals who assisted in his care. Special thanks to Jon and Mark, who supported us during Dad’s move and countless trips to Morgan City.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Please forward his daughters any pictures or stories that you would like to share. In the meantime, friends and family can honor Alvin by sharing stories and spending time with their loved ones.
