Growing up in San Pedro, Gregory attended Bandini Street Elementary, Dodson Junior High School and he graduated from San Pedro High School in 1969. Gregory was a lifelong learner and received numerous certifications in the field of information technologies (IT). Gregory even lived in India for three months to obtain a specialized certification.
Gregory loved working in the field of computers as a System Administrator. He was very proud of his “military top clearance” and reminded his nurses on a daily basis prior to his passing.
In 1970, he worked in Anaheim, California for Interstate Electronics who had contracts with General Dynamics Electric Boat Company. Gregory transferred to Groton, Connecticut where he met and later married Cynthia Ramos. While working in Connecticut, he spent most of his time working on the computer systems for military submarines.
Missing California, Gregory returned in 1972 where he continued to work on military submarines at the Mare Island Naval Submarine Base in Vallejo, California.
In 1991, Gregory became employed at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Raytheon IIS Information Solutions, both in Pasadena. Unfortunately, those contracts ended in 2010 and he relocated to Arizona to work for SAIC, Department of Defense. His last position was with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Monterey, California. While still working for NRL, Gregory was able to move back to Moreno Valley and work from home. Gregory retired from NRL just shy of eleven years.
Gregory loved his three Rottweilers – Francis, Carl and Ryder. He loved to give, always donating to many organizations. Gregory was an avid runner and cyclist and took part in multiple triathlons, 5k and 10k runs, marathons and charity races such as the Breast Cancer Foundation. He especially loved his old movies, shows and music. Gregory only ate at certain restaurants, he liked what he liked, particularly the Black Bear Diner.
Gregory leaves behind a family who loves him deeply. He is survived by his son, Ian; daughter in law, Emily; his loving beautiful grandson’s, Grayson and Hudson; sister’s Deborah, Rosalind, Renee and Stephanie; brother’s Anthony, Andre and Joseph; Aunt Bossie; Uncle Billy, and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Gregory will be forever loved and highly missed. Rest in heaven with the family and friends who are with you in Heaven. Until we meet again… Dad, Father-in-Law, Grandpere, Brother and friend. We love you unconditionally!
