Rosemary C. Hill

It is with great sadness that the Hill family announces the death of Rosemary Hill (Stoll) on March 11 at the age of 89. Rosemary was a longtime residence of Montrose NY. She grew up in Lake Peekskill, graduated from Peekskill High School in 1949 and later graduated from Cochran School of Nursing in 1952. She started work at the Montrose VA Hospital in 1952 where she soon met and then married Robert Hill in 1953. The two raised 6 children during their 55-year marriage, retiring to Florida for a few years prior to returning to Montrose.

Rosemary loved her family, friends, church and her lifelong work as a nurse. She took great joy in remaining connected to her family, friends, cousins, nieces, nephews and all their extended families.

Her death was the result of pneumonia after a 16-year battle against Alzheimer’s disease. She is predeceased by her husband Robert, her oldest son Robert Jr (Bobby) and his wife Veronica (Ward) and her older brothers Edward Stoll and Paul Stoll. She is survived by her children Jeffrey (Barb) Hill, Lee White, Marc Hill, John (Marcia) Hill and Janine Hill/Swartz, 10 grandchildren (Crystal McGuire, Nicole McGuire, Amber Hill, Robert (Renee) Ward, Jackson Hill, Derek Hill, Kyle Hill, Sabrina Swartz, Benjamin Swartz, Cassidy Swartz and great grandchildren Danny, Alaina, Alexa and Elizabeth.

She is fondly remembered as a very happy, caring person who always had a smile on her face. She will be truly missed by all her friends and family.

A private viewing will be held at Edward F. Carter funeral home in Montrose on Tuesday March 16 from 6-9pm with a private mass held at St Christopher’s Church in Buchanan on March 17 at 10am.
