Hanna Fields of Montrose, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2022. She was 76 years old. Hanna was born in Germany on August 31, 1946 to the late Jacob and Adela (Herchkowitz) Rosen. Some of her fondest memories were with her sister growing up together in Israel.
Beloved by all fortunate enough to know her, Hanna treasured spending time with family and friends. The matriarch of the family, she hosted Passover every year, Her matzoh ball soup and potato latkes were worth waiting for. A proud member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Women’s Auxiliary in Verplanck, ‘Hami’ enjoyed playing the slots, a good puzzle, and her annual trip to Saratoga Springs.
But her true pride and joy were her grandchildren, Nathan and Lucas. Nothing excited Grandma Hanna more than breakfast at the Mohegan Diner every Saturday morning.
Everyone that knew Hanna knew she was not one to complain, a trait she learned from her mother, a Holocaust survivor.
Hanna lived with dignity and loved deeply.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Steven I. Fields; loving son, Jason Fields and his wife Ida and her cherished grandchildren, Nathan and Lucas. She is also survived by her caring nieces, Jennifer Foster and Amanda Rivera and sister in law Lori Fields. She was predeceased by her sister Esther Rosen and brother-in-law Michael Fields.
A Memorial Service will be planned for the future.
In remembrance of Hanna’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to BluePath Service Dogs www.bluepathservicedogs.org .
