Elias Tripolitis was born on September 28, 1934 in the town of Vrondados on the island of Chios in Greece. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (also from Vrondados), who he met in the United States and married in 1960. Elias served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class. He received a Good Conduct Medal, was a Marksman and Sharpshooter, and was Honorably Discharged in 1963. Elias was a self-employed painter by trade and enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird watching and playing poker with his buddies. Elias and Virginia enjoyed 35 years in Mattituck amongst friends and stayed involved in the local community. Elias is predeceased by his brother, Sotiris, sisters Kaliroi and Eftihia. He is survived by his sister, Vasiliki, sons Pantelis and Sotiris, daughter Constance and grandchildren Deanna, Elias, Cassidy, Noah, and Lucas. Viewing for Elias will be held on March 14, 2024 at the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose, NY from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. Funeral will be celebrated12PM Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Transfiguration of Christ Greek Orthodox Church, 1950 Breakwater Road, Mattituck, NY. Burial with Military Honors to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Wading River, NY. Please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in his memory in lieu of flowers.
