Dear Family and Friends, 
Thank you all for coming to honour my father. He was such a humble man and he would have been embarrassed by the attention. We appreciate all the kind words and stories that you shared with us. We learned that he used to talk about my brother, sisters and I at work, that he was the best employee and that he was even pretty cool. We appreciate our friends and colleagues, some who never got a chance to meet him, for taking the time to support us. And even if you could not attend, Dad would not have been upset in the least. We are grateful for the love you sent. Thank you again for helping us give a proper send-off to such a deserving man. The hole in our hearts are filled by your love and the respect you showed our dad.

“Shing Guo” as my sisters Anna, Helen, Sharon and I called him. When he arrived in Canada with his sister Kam Yin “Yin dee”, ~1970, they initially settled in our apartment in plateau Mont Royale.  “Guo” and “Dee” meant ‘older brother’ and ‘older sister’ though they were both cousins – children of my eldest uncle on my fathers side.  Shing Guo became a kind and exemplary benevolent brother. He spent both a substantial amount of his free time and modest earnings he made as a waiter on us, and his other cousins, Alan and Michael – sons of 2nd uncle. We will always cherish the times he took us on his off-days to amusement park LaRonde, or swimming at Ile Ste Helene. He looked after us -made sure we were safe and well fed. My 1st prized possession, my first bicycle was thanks to Shing Guo  a Raleigh 3 speed bicycle which cost 85$.  In 1973-that was a weeks salary. Think about it. Shing guo was in his early 20s then. He could have spent his days off doing what people in their 20s would normally do. But not Shing guo- he spent time taking care of his younger cousins. Shing guo never took for granted that his uncle/aunt (my father and my mother  (Chuck min and Choi yee) sponsored him. He honored my parents as if his own, was dutiful and responsible in lending a hand whenever needed, when we became homeowners in 1973.  I remember in the 70s, my mom at dinner telling me one day Shing Guo was going to leave. I was immediately saddened and remember crying. He was going to leave because one day he was going to start a family of his own. Selfishly, I didn’t want to see him leave, but when I think of it now, he had every trait to become the loving & generous father, grandfather he was. Today we were able to revisit great images, a wonderful stroll through memory lane, full of happy moments with him, Shing gou, that great cousin of ours who enriched our lives. 
Shing guo, a friend of the Poon and Breton families as well. 
Shing guo,  we will always love you and remember you fondly.

Chère famille Wong. 

Le décès de Monsieur Wong nous a tous bouleversés et attristés. Nous savons avec certitude que nous ne perdons jamais les êtres que nous aimions. Même s'ils ne sont plus parmi nous, ils continuent à participer dans nos vies, à être présents dans nos pensées et dans nos décisions. Leur amour laisse des souvenirs inoubliables dans nos mémoires. Nous trouvons du réconfort en sachant que nos vies ont été enrichis parce que nous avons partagé nôtre chemin avec eux. 
Nous n'avons pas eu l'occasion de compatir que peu de fois avec Monsieur Wong mais à chaque fois il a été très attentionné et de clase appart à notre égard. 
Souvenons-vous que les souvenirs de nos parents sont les parfums de l'âme. 
Nous tenons à exprimer à toute la famille Wong nos sincères condoléances et nous sommes en prière avec vous dans ces jours de tristesse. Repose en paix l'âme de Monsieur Wong.
