William Elmer Couch

William (Bill) Elmer Couch was born on June 27, 1937, and departed this life on February 9, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Moore Couch, daughters Sharon McGilberry (Tommy) and Karen Boan (Kenneth), and his five grandsons, Will McGilberry, Jackson Boan, Holland Boan, Connor McGilberry and Solomon Boan. His parents, Robert Lee Couch and Mary Elizabeth Couch, and his eight siblings preceded him in death. Bill retired in 2015 after a 59-year career as a Civil Engineer with the Alabama Department of Transportation. He also served as an Elder in the Church of Christ, and was a member of the University Church of Christ in Montgomery. Bill was well respected in the community as a person of integrity and service and was always willing to help those in need. He was often heard saying to others, “You can have anything you need. I will help you any way I can.” Bill was most proud of his family and showered them with love and support through his words, actions, and constant presence.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:00 am with public visitation one hour prior to service.

Services will be officiated by Michael Coleman.

Pallbearers will be Jackson Boan, Holland Boan, Connor McGilberry, Solomon Boan, Robert Pigg, and Jason Moore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Will McGilberry, Kenneth Boan, and Tommy McGilberry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Benevolence Fund of University Church of Christ, 5315 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36109.
