Wanda Lucille Warmack, 62, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed from this life on July 23, 2023, after an extended illness. Wanda was born on October 8, 1960, in Gadsden, Alabama to James Olin Warmack and Dorothy Giddens Warmack. Wanda graduated from Lineville High School in 1979 and from Alabama Christian College (now Faulkner University) in 1983. Wanda went on to receive her PhD in Reading Education from Auburn University.
Wanda spent many years working in education at various levels and was a Professor of Education at Faulkner for 25 years. She previously had worked in alumni relations, admissions, and public relations at the university. She spent several years teaching young children and was lovingly known by many as “Miss Wanda”.
Wanda was predeceased by her parents Olin and Dot, paternal grandparents Bill and Josie Warmack, and maternal grandparents Arles and Sarah Giddens. She is survived by her sister, Cynthia Warmack Spangler, former brother-in-law and care-giver Larry, and a host of cousins and loving friends. Wanda was known and loved by many for her servant’s heart and loving spirit.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at University church of Christ, Montgomery, Alabama. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, in Munford, Alabama, on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
