Walter John Genard Jr., age 79, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023.
Walt graduated from Hayneville high school where he played football. He served in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged on Jan.
13,1969. He also served in the Navy reserves and he was honorably discharged Jan. 18, 1976. He loved genealogy and had accumulated over 2000 names resulting from his research on his family and his desire to help other people wanting to know their ancestral history. He loved Alabama football and was an avid fan. One of his many interests included NASCAR Racing. Walt also loved Round Dancing and Square Dancing and spent many years perfecting his dance skills as a member of the Montgomery Area Square Dance Association. He met his beloved future wife Paula at a dance and as he told her later, "I've taken a shining to you." They were married on April 22, 2000.

Predeceased by: Walter Genard Sr. and Katherine Rose his Father and Mother and his brother Tom Genard.

A committal service for Walter will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 9:45 AM to 10:15 AM at Alabama Heritage Cemetery, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117. A visitation will occur Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3460 Carter Hill Rd, Montgomery, AL 36111. A memorial service will occur Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3460 Carter Hill, Montgomery, AL 36111.
