Sidney Maurice Rooker

Sidney Maurice Rooker, age 93 of Montgomery, AL, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 in the comfort of his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie B. and Ethel Irene Rooker; son, Griffin Rooker; grandson, Branden Pietz; first wife, Doris Nickels, sisters, Marvirine Defnall, Reba Whisenat; brothers, Jack Rooker, and Clarence Rooker. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Betty S. Rooker; children, Tammy Pietz, William (Trish) Churchwell, Mary Ann ( George) Downing, Edward (Lee) Churchwell; daughter-in-law, Connie Rooker; sister, Martha Brewer; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Sid was a World War II veteran with the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Hava Tampa Cigar Company after 40+ years. He was an active member of Highland Ave Baptist Church. He was a mason and active in Scottish Rites and a member of the Lodge 923.

Services are to be announced at a later date.

A luncheon remembrance will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 9, 2017 at Highland Ave Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM, Friday, June 9, 2017 at White Chapel Funeral Home followed by the funeral at 2:00 PM. Burial will be the following day in Panama City, FL at Greenwood Cemetery. Leak Memory Chapel is directing.
