Richard “Jack” Taylor, 93, a 52-year resident of Montgomery, AL, died, Sunday, June 12, 2022. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Andrew and Mary Winters Taylor, of Mountain City, TN, and his first wife, Joyce Hall Taylor of forty-one years, and his second wife, Myrtle Dunnam Taylor of twenty-two years. He is survived by his two children, Arleen T. Metcalf, 71 years of age, and Steven H. Taylor, 70, five grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren who loved and were loved by their Dad Taylor. He is also survived by Myrtle’s children, Grady Stanley York, 62, and Shelia Faye Arnold, 63, and Myrtle’s five grandchildren who loved and were loved by their Papa Jack.
Jack lived a full life that spanned a humble beginning in a small cabin in the Smoky Mountains, to completion of the eighth grade in five years in a one-room schoolhouse, to a twenty-two year Air Force career during which he rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant in the hospital administration field. Following retirement, he returned to school to become qualified as a printer and had a second career as a Civil Service printer working at Maxwell and Gunter Air Force Bases. He will be missed by all who knew him, family and friends alike.
