He was a US Army Combat Veteran who served in Vietnam. Reuben was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Central Alabama Chapter 607 and a great supporter of his brothers-in-arms. Reuben spent most of his career in transportation driving buses and tractor trailers. He retired in 2012 after a 25 year career with FedEx. He attended Millbrook Baptist Church.
Reuben was a character, with a unique sense of humor that could definitely catch you by surprise! He always had a story to tell about his life experiences, which those that loved him always enjoyed hearing. He was well respected and always there to help family and friends. Reuben was most proud of his family and always surrounded them with love and support.
He is survived by his son, Brian Christopher Cope, ex-wife and best friend, Juanita Sewell Cope, his sister Edna Cope Takacs (Richard), his brother Jimmy Ray Cope (Rhonda), many nieces and nephews, and countless longtime close friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben Lee Cope, Sr. and Margaret Bouyer Cope.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11am Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Mike Ingram at 1pm and Graveside services at Greenwood Cemetery beginning at 1:30pm.
Reuben will be honored by friends from FedEx serving as his pallbearers.
