Peggy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Morris, of 63 years; their children: Neal (Pam) Kendrick and Bonnie (Jerry) Angel; grandchildren: Jordan Kendrick, Hunter Kendrick, Chandler Churchwell, Shelby Churchwell, Stephen Angel, and Michael Angel; 10 great-grandchildren; her brother, Mike (Helen) O’Neal; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents: Curtis Ramsey (C.R.) and Eloise O’Neal and granddaughter, Jennifer Angel Herrington.
Peggy was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, friend, and sister in Christ. She was born on October 1, 1936. After graduating from high school, she went on to study at the University of North Alabama and received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. Peggy and her family moved to Montgomery and became members of Eastern Hills Baptist Church in 1964.
Peggy’s devotion, caring, and love for her family was always on display. Her desire to teach and guide young people led her to a career in teaching. She had many students over the years return to thank her for the life lessons they received from being in her classroom. While teaching school and caring for her family, she was able to continue her education and received a Master’s degree from Troy University.
Peggy’s gift as a teacher, her love for God and her desire to share that love with others led her to become a Sunday School teacher. Over the years her Sunday School class grew and developed into a very close group and has become better known as the “Kendrick Class”. Her service to her God was not only in Sunday School but also through her musical talent. She was the church pianist for over 25 years. She played for church services, various choirs and many church programs and events. Peggy’s mother played the organ, and they loved playing together. Peggy passed away on her mother’s birthday, October 26. The angels will be singing to the beautiful music being played now that they are reunited. Peggy’s love transformed the lives of those she met. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share laughter and spread her spirit of God’s love in each person she knew.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Leak Memory with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. A private graveside ceremony will take place after the service. The Pallbearers will be: Allen Kendrick, Chad O’Neal, Chandler Churchwell, Hunter Kendrick, John Hrabe, Jordan Kendrick, Jerry Angel and Neal Kendrick.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Leak-MC.com for the Kendrick family.
