Patricia Ann Barnes

Early in Patricia’s life she met a fireman with the City of Montgomery who worked across the street from her house. This chance encounter led to an unyielding love and marriage that lasted almost 67 years. On July 1st ,1954, Patricia married her fireman, John W. Barnes, Sr. and was a dedicated and supportive wife until John’s death in 2021. For years, Patricia worked with Dr. Lee Connelly as a Dental Hygienist and was actively involved in her church, Eastern Hills Baptist Church serving over forty years in the church’s nursery. Patricia endured years of physical pain from chronic back problems and in the last seven years of her life a debilitating stroke had left her paralyzed. Through it all, Patricia never complained about the adversity’s life had dealt her and cared more for others than herself. Patricia was a loving and considerate mother of two boys and was always there for them. Patricia is predeceased by her husband, her parents, her sister Lynn; but is survived by her sister Anita Sedberry, her brother Joseph Loftin (Wynne), sons Bill (Margaret) and Patrick, grandchildren Ashley Garland, Matthew Barnes, Emily Barnes, Kelly Barnes, and several great grandchildren. She was lovingly known as Grandmother by her family and Aunt Pat to her nephews and nieces who loved and appreciated her.

Visitation will be held at Leak-Memory Funeral Home on Thursday, October 13th, 2022, between 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, followed by graveside services at 11:00 AM in Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
