Mary Helen Sexton Lester, 89, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away April 18, 2021 at Crowne Nursing Facility. Visitation will be held for Mrs. Lester on Wednesday, April 21st from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Leak Memory Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lester was born and raised in Crenshaw County, Alabama. She worked as a young woman in a glove factory in Greenville for some time before gaining employment with Southern Bell Telephone Company in Montgomery, which later became South Central Bell, Bell South and finally AT&T. She retired in 1994. She love to travel, which she did for a while.
Helen, as we know her, was a dedicated wife and mother, and always made sure her family, especially Rick her son, was well taken care of. She went the extra mile. Helen was a dedicated Christina woman also, she loved the Lord and attended University Church of Christ. She loved cooking for others and working in her yard, especially in her roses.
Mrs. Lester is preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Sexton and then by Richard Lester; parents, Marvin and Thelma Sexton; brothers Andrew (Lorraine) Sexton, Robert Lee (Ruby) Sexton, James (Carolyn) Sexton and Joseph (Pat) Sexton.
She is survived by her son, Rick Lester and her brother Harvey (Judy) Sexton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
