Henry Leo Brown Jr., age 81, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023. Born in Columbus, GA, he was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Leo Brown and Quida Bennich Smith; his grandparents, Willie Mack Brown and Lomie Brown. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty Jean Brown; his children, Tammy J. Brown Sellers and Christopher L. Brown; grandchildren, Brittany Petratos, Brandon Dickey, Mallory French, Zakk Sellers, Meagan Hodges and Blake Brown; his great grandchildren, Katelyn Connell; Melina, Arianna & Zoe Petratos; and Odin & Oaklynn Hodges; and his siblings, Willie Mack Brown II, Bobby Brown, Randy Brown and Karen Brown Scott.
Leo moved to Montgomery from Columbus, GA in 1943. He served in the Navy earning the rank of Quarter Master during Vietnam. He returned to Alabama and became a Montgomery police officer during the '60s, earned a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice, later serving as a Montgomery County District Attorney investigator for 27 years. Leo enjoyed Alabama football, boxing, MMA, but was also a member of FOP, Sheriff's Association and Eastmont Baptist Church.
He will be remembered as an amazing father, wonderful husband, doting grandfather and faithful brother and friend.
A friends and family visitation for Leo will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Leo's memory may be made to Tunnels to Towers; and Wounded Warriors. The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassion and care shown by the team of Synergy Home Care.
