Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2024, at Leak Memory Chapel with Dr. Neil Epler officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. A private interment will follow at a later date.
Johnny was born July 28, 1944, at home in Crenshaw County to Julian Johnny Broadway and Bertha Deavers Broadway. He was one of seven children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: William and Robert (Hayward); and his sister, Evelyn B. Armstrong.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia Adams Broadway, and his devoted son Jonathan Ryan Broadway; sisters: Wilma B. Bush, Ringgold, GA, Edna B. King, Luverne, AL; brother, Dr. Charles Broadway, Birmingham, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Larry Brown, Curtis Hand, Shane Missildine, Hunter Nelson, John Snellgrove, and Jarrod Williams.
Johnny was a longtime member of Frazer Church.
In 2010, Johnny retired from a local fence company and devoted himself full-time to his hobby of making game calls and quickly gained local recognition. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed all things in nature. He took great pride in the preparation and planting of food plots for various hunting properties.
Johnny was a longtime and faithful Alabama fan and enjoyed following former Alabama players throughout their professional careers. He had a quick wit and always appreciated a good laugh which he would willingly and gladly share.
Johnny will always be remembered as a true friend and devoted father and husband.
A visitation for Johnny will be held Monday, January 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
