John Lewis Deese

Deese, John Lewis, age 83, a longtime resident of Ramer, AL, better known as “Granddaddy,” passed away Saturday February 25, 2023. John Lewis enjoyed his daily walks, spending time with his grandchildren, and he loved sharing a good joke. He was preceded in death by his parents, James William Lewis Deese and Annie Lou Deese Money, and two siblings, James Deese and Sarah Parker. He is survived by his wife Debbie; Derrick Deese (Cindy) Allen Deese (Tina), Elizabeth Deese Johnson (Robert), Maria Deese Collett (James), Reanne Sprenger Culver (Kelly), Bert Sprenger (Sara), as well as thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His brothers and sisters, Mary Lou Durden, Katie Smith, Annie Ruth Dees, Franklin Deese, Rebecca Hall.

The Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Friendship Baptist Church located: 1577 Huffman Rd., Grady, AL 36036. Followed by burial at Hill’s Chapel Cemetery located on Long Rd. in Grady, AL. Pallbearers will be Hunter Culver, Reed Culver, John Frank Deese, Kyler Deese, Taylor Deese, Don Hicks, Mike Jones, and Lamar McFolley.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hill Chapel Cemetery Fund, 10989 Mt. Zion Rd. Ramar, AL. 36069.
