HANAN, Jeanette Hill, 91, a longtime resident of Montgomery and recently of Birmingham, AL, died peacefully at home on June 18, 2023, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her son, Bernard Eric Hanan. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Richard Eli Hanan; her children Diane Hanan Weil (Alan), Alison Hanan Berman (Robert), and Lee Kelly Hanan.
Known as "Precious" by her family and countless others, Jeanette was born in Notasulga, Alabama, on September 26, 1931. She graduated with an associate degree from St. Margaret's School of Nursing in 1951. A member of Temple Beth Or in Montgomery, Jeanette's patience, sweetness and warmth were a testament to the way she lived her life - always giving to others while asking for nothing in return. Jeanette was a lover of music, and often could be found singing along to Frank Sinatra whether in the kitchen or while enjoying boat rides on Lake Martin. She was an amazing cook and baker, passing down cherished family recipes to her children and grandchildren over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Respite program in Jeanette's memory. Attending Respite and being part of their Side by Side singing group brought great joy to Jeanette, just as she brought beautiful light and laughter to others.
A visitation for Jeanette will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 12:00 PM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Leak-MC.com for the Hanan family.
