June 25,1949 – September 28, 2022
James William “Joe” McGuire was born June 25, 1949 in Montgomery, Alabama to John and Emma McCraw McGuire. He attended Lee High School and then graduated from Troy State University. He served in the Air Force Reserve for 26 years. Joe’s career included employment at Peoples Produce and Alastar Food Service; then later with Tucker Pecan Company and Alabama Food Service, where he became partner in these two businesses. Since retirement he focused on maintaining his rental houses and managing his truck parking lot.
On September 28, 2022 he passed away after a short but valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Bell McGuire; daughter & son-in-law, Melissa & Will Logue of Franklin, TN; daughter & son-in-law, Stephanie & Theron Davis of Madison, AL; and grandchildren Madison, Tucker, & Hadley Logue and Brantley & Owen Davis. He is also survived by sister Onie Wallace and brother Pat McGuire, along with several nieces and nephews.
Joe was a dedicated servant of the Lord with his boots on the ground working every day. He had a great passion for mentoring and those who benefited are numerous among us. In his free time he enjoyed traveling to spend time with his grandchildren as well as getting away to his farm in the country. He attended Vaughan Park Church of Christ, though on the weekends he was at the farm, he enjoyed fellowship at the Oak Bowery Church of Christ.
The legacy Joe leaves behind is one we will treasure. He will be dearly missed and remembered as a most honorable man.
Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Saturday, October 1st from 9-11am with chapel service at 11am. Graveside immediately after.
The family’s choice for donation is Agape of Central Alabama.
