Herb Reed

Herbert Elisha Reed died peacefully Saturday, Dec 14, 2024 at his home in Montgomery, AL at the age of 92. Herb was a genuinely kind person and a devoted family man. He loved all things related to the Crimson Tide and was a passionate fan. He was also an avid golfer in his younger years. He graduated from Cordova High School and the University of Alabama. He served in the United States Air Force and then worked with the U.S. Government until retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evan and Gertie Reed; wife, Carol Reed; son, Darren Reed; and brothers, W.E. (Speed) Reed and Donald Reed.

He is survived by his family from previous marriage with Carol Reed; daughter, Julie Garland (Tim): son, David Reed (Katherine); daughter-in-law, Susan Thompson Reed; grandchildren, Garrett Reed, Cooper Reed, Michael Garland (Katie), Brian Garland (Betty), Laura Hudgins (Anthony)); great-grandchildren, James Garland, Colin Garland, Mason Garland, Brayden Garland, Syahni Garland, Nash Garland, Asher Hudgins, River Hudgins.

He is also survived by his current wife, Sally Hubbard Reed; step-son, Kenny Hubbard (Renee); step-daughter, Freda Hubbard Roberts (Dee); grandchildren, (Danial Hubbard, David Hubbard, Sarah Pittard), great grandchildren, Jones Hubbard.

A family and friends visitation for Herbert will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM. A family graveside at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo will be set for a later date.
