Edward loved the Lord, life, his family, friends, and anyone he met.
Edward was born in Verdenburg, Alabama. He was a proud military veteran, serving in the AirCorps during World War II. He married the love of his life, Kathyrn “Kabby” Reeves Farish, they were married for 72 years.
Edward was a dedicated Conservation Officer, beginning his career with the Alabama Game, Fish and Seafoods Division in 1946 as a "Game Warden." Edward would ultimately be promoted to the highest rank within the Law Enforcement Section as the "Chief of Enforcement" in 1963. Then “Chief Farish”, was the driving force in the modernization of the Law Enforcement Section. He was responsible for the State Peace Officer designation being broadened to accept all Conservation Enforcement Officers, which allowed officers to take advantage of employment benefits that were previously never available to them. Edward would remain the Chief of Enforcement until 1977.
During his 30 plus year career he spearheaded many positive changes, to include doubling the number of Conservation Officers in the state. Edward set the example of what a Chief should be, he was smart, hardworking, and cared deeply for the wellbeing of his staff.
Edward raised his family in Montgomery, Alabama and was a longtime deacon with his church, Taylor Rd Baptist (Normandale Baptist Church), often leading Sunday school. Upon retiring from the State, he spent his time enjoying family, friends, traveling, church and keeping himself busy with an occasional gun show. As an avid hunter he enjoyed many hours in the woods, he especially liked turkey calling for his friends and family. Often reflecting and recalling stories of all his turkey calling adventures and fishing.
You will be forever in our hearts. Love you, Popsie!
