Dana was born, October 8, 1949, Montgomery, Alabama, to Joseph Carr and Mary Louise Wilson Troy, Sr. and passed away at her home in Montgomery July 26, 2023. She also lived at Waveland, Miss. (where she bought her first car and survived Hurricane Camille), Huntsville (where she had her first apartment), and Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. (where her son was born and where she enjoyed the beach so much that she dreamed of a house near the water. She did buy a house “near the water,” but with lovely pond views instead of ocean! Be careful what you wish for she said!
She attended Cloverdale School (where she was a majorette), Lanier High School, Huntsville High School, graduating with the class of 1967, and attended business school. Dana worked for almost 40 years in the medical records department of Baptist Hospital and under its several previous corporate names.
Known as one who diligently got the job done, had a wry wit that was often sprinkled with classroom Spanish phrases and her spanakopita was famous among the family. In her teen years she brought some tasty Italian dishes, learned from a neighbor, to our dinner table. She leaves behind her devoted son James Wade Goggin; 6 siblings: Linda Greene, Joseph Troy, Jr., Isabelle Allison, Aimée Harbin, Marie Troy, and Paul Troy; beloved nieces and nephews: Jennifer Greene, Patricia Hopper, Elaine Troy Siddall, Lucius Allison, Gabriel Allison, Daniel Harbin, Alan Harbin, Elaine Haberkorn and several grand nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be August 7, 2023 11:00 a.m. at Saint Bede Catholic Church, Montgomery, Alabama, gathering in the parish hall to share stories afterwards. Interment at Saint Margaret Cemetery will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School scholarship fund would be appreciated. MCPS was started in 1873 as Loretto School by her great grandfather Daniel S. Troy and his friend Henry C. Semple for the education of their daughters.
