January 12, 1946 – January 21, 2023.
Byron Wilson Golden met the One he had long preached about at age 77. He was born at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Montgomery AL to Rube & Geraldine Golden, January 12, 1946. He graduated with Lanier’s Class of ’65 and attended Troy University. After 31 years of employment, he retired from Roadway Express, Inc. Byron was a bi-vocational Baptist pastor and pastored several churches in Elmore County. His passion was telling others about Jesus and teaching Bible prophecy. He was a member of Eastmont Baptist Church for the past 12 years.
Byron enjoyed several hobbies including taxidermy, hunting, fishing, raising show chickens, gardening and grocery shopping. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandson, Sully. His dislikes included yard work and waiting...for anything!
Byron was predeceased by parents Rube & Geraldine Golden, mother-in-law Annie Laurie Akers & father-in-law Guy Akers, sister, Tinnie Moore & brother-in-laws Frank Holton, Buddy Rawlinson & Royce R. Layton. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Akers Golden, his sons: Shannon Guy Golden (Anna) & Byron Todd Golden (Debbie) as well as three grandsons. He is survived by brother, Gerald Golden (June) sisters, Nita Holton & Gennie Rawlinson, brother-in-laws, George Moore, Dr. Ghary M. Akers (Phyllis) Dr .Ronald T. Akers (Shirley), sister-in-law, Joyce Akers Layton & aunt, Dolore McLaughlin.
Rev. Terry Johnston will officiate the graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery, January , 2023, at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers please give to Eastmont Baptist Church, 4505 Atlanta Hwy. Montgomery, AL 36109 or the charity of your choice.
A celebration of life graveside service for Byron will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery.
