Annie was born November 15, 1931 to Marshall and Thelma Hall in Capps, Alabama. She grew up in Montgomery, AL and moved to Savannah, GA in January, 1958.
Annie was predeceased in death by her parents, Marshall and Thelma Hall; childhood sweetheart, forever friend and former husband, Ray M Thornton, Sr; Roy D. Martin, husband; brothers Thomas Hall, Tranum Hall, John Hall; and sisters Thelma Sloan, Willie Pearl Light, and Mary Jo Young.
Survivors include, son, Ray M Thornton, Jr and wife, Donna Pate Thornton; grandchildren, Shanna Rae Moon, Raechel Bailey Thornton Dicks and husband, Levi, and Jody Hutcheson; great granddaughters, Laura Anslee Cannon and Adrienne Harper Dicks; brothers Benjamin Hall and Wayne Hall; sister Nancy McSwain; sister-in-law, Betty Hall, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Annie worked for Savannah Morning News in classified advertising, Savannah, GA and later managed several apartment complexes in Savannah, GA and Montgomery, AL. Annie loved and considered home Savannah and the surrounding low country. She particularly enjoyed Savannah’s historic district. Annie always attended Savannah’s famous St Patrick’s Day Parade, to cheer the Benedictine Military School Cadets especially when Ray Jr. was a Benedictine Cadets. Annie was a fan of football, specifically for any team that Tom Brady was the quarterback; and of course, the Alabama Crimson Tide- Roll Tide.
Annie loved gatherings with family and friends, was an avid dancer, and could out Jitterbug most everyone with whom she danced. Her favorite partners were Frazier Young, brother- in- law, and cousin James Everett Moore.

Annie Laura would want to dance! So, we shall!

Please join us in a celebration of Annie’s life on July 2, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery AL followed by a 2:00 pm graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery.
