Année Elizabeth Caspari, age 91, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on December 27, 2023. She was born on September 11, 1932, in Itta Bena, Mississippi. Année was the loving mother of Wilson Baden Caspari III, Glenn Scott Caspari, Douglas Hunter Caspari, Barry-Alan Caspari, and Tarleton Stuart Caspari.
Année was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. She served her country with honor and dedication. After her military service, and while raising her five sons, Année pursued higher education and received an undergraduate degree from Huntingdon College in 1968 with a BS in Elementary Teacher Education and a graduate degree from Troy State University in 1973 with a MS in Counseling and Guidance
Following her education, Année embarked on a successful career as a classroom teacher and school guidance counselor. She worked at Maxwell Elementary School and Queen of Mercy Elementary School, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.
Année was a long-time member of the Civitan Club. She also volunteered at Old Alabama Town. She found joy in giving back to her community and making a positive impact on the lives of others.
Année will be deeply missed by her sons (spouses); grandchildren (spouses); great-grandchildren, and all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons: Wilson Baden Caspari III (Deborah), Glenn Scott Caspari (Darryln), Douglas Hunter Caspari (Sheryl Ann Otter Caspari), Barry-Alan Caspari (Pam) and Tarleton Stewart Caspari, Amy Caspari;
Grandchildren: Rachel Ann Baker (David), Kelly Loraine Caspari, Ryan Hunter Caspari (Sonja), Miranda Hopkins (Nathan), Andrea Rae Abrigo (David), Chase Caspari, Joshua Caspari, Jessica Caspari, Skylar Caspari, Kyra Caspari, Wilson Baden Caspari IV (Lindsay), Shelly Rene Raabe, Shawn Owings, Shannon Barley, Katie Cooper, Sean Larry Yokotake, Jessie Minoru Nakamura, and Elise Yasuka Levy (Eli);
Great-grandchildren: Charley Ann Baker, Joey Elizabeth Baker, Siara Leighann Caspari, Rilyn Hunter Caspari, Hazel Rayne Caspari, Noah Hopkins, Eli Hopkins, Ezrah Aya Abrigo, Milan Ciel Shaylo Levy, Jacob Owings, Amelia Barley, Olivia McGinty, Lilly Caspari Haynes, Alana Hoyle, Nola Caspari, Caroline Année Caspari, and Gabriel James Caspari.
Nephews: Hugh Virden Smith III (Angie), Hamilton Vaiden Smith and Caelum Soverow
Great Nephew: Hudson Smith
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Hugh Virden Smith, Jr., brother, Longin Soverow, Jr., niece, Hunter Victoria Smith, and great-granddaughter, Mattie Rose Baker.
Memorial services for Année will be held on January 10, 2024, at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama. The public visitation will begin at 12:00pm, followed by the memorial service at 1:00pm. A graveside service and interment will take place after the memorial service.
