Richard is survived by his wife, Ruth Melvin; son, Bobby Melvin; daughter, Sherry (Kenneth) Riley; daughter, Glenda Littlefield; grandson, Daniel Smith; granddaughter, Katie Parker; grandson, Jacob Melvin; granddaughter, Elizabeth Thrash; granddaughter, Ashley Littlefield; grandson, David Smith; granddaughter, Hannah Melvin; grandson, Joel Littlefield; great-granddaughter, Bradlee Parker; great-granddaughter, Wren Smith; great-grandson, Riverson Thrash; and brother, Roger (Judy) Melvin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Glenn Melvin; son, Jerry Melvin; sister, Bernice (Larry) Day; and brother, Raymond Melvin.

A visitation for Richard will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ashby Baptist Church, 35 Brickyard Pass, Brierfield, Alabama 35035. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Ashby Baptist Church with the burial following at Old Union Cemetery, 1094 Oakley Station Road, Randolph, AL.
