Josie Estelle Smith Latimer

Josie Estelle Smith Latimer, age 89, of Brierfield, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. She was born in Chilton County, Alabama to Robert and Evie Mims Smith. She married Zed David "Buddy" Latimer, and dedicated her life to taking care of their family. She was a member of Ashby Baptist Church. Josie enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading. She was feisty, always spoke her mind, and appreciated genuine people.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and five siblings, Dewey, Jack, Ethel, Willie Mae and Kathleen. She is survived by her sons, David Latimer (Kathy) of Lincoln, AL and Joe "Bobby" Latimer of Brierfield, AL; daughter, Sandy Kornegay (Ray) of Eoline, AL; grandchildren, Jim Latimer (Chelsea) and Gary Latimer; great-grandchildren, Lila and Allie Latimer, and Kaylyn and D.J. Latimer; and a host of nieces, nephews and chosen family.

A visitation for Josie will be held Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ashby Baptist Church, 35 Brickyard Pass, Brierfield, Alabama 35035, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.

Josie will be laid to rest in Ashby Cemetery, Brierfield, AL.
