Hershel Wayne Buckner

Hershel Wayne Buckner, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Hershel was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Richard and Mamie Buckner; brothers, Richard Roy Buckner (Sarah), Grady Louis Buckner, and Homer Lee Buckner; sisters, Susie Ann Gullion (James), Mildred Inez Canada (Gordon), Laura Jo Booth (Bob), Virginia Alice Finkenaur (Allen), Hollis Doyle Shephard, Sr., and Howard Leon Winton.

Hershel is survived by his two sisters; Linda Joyce Winton of Hartselle, Alabama and Judy Shephard of Pell City, Alabama; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews, as well as extended family for many years, David and Vickie Truett of Ft. Myers, Florida and Dorothy Tennyson of Birmingham, Alabama.

Hershel graduated from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. He worked at 1st National Bank of Birmingham and the U.S. Post Office where he retired after 39 years. Hershel served in the United States Army. He enjoyed sports and playing golf. Hershel always had his dog, Baby Girl, with him everywhere he went, including church. He loved all his friends and family.
