Earl R. Compton, age 82 of Calera Alabama, passed away at his residence on Sunday, January 15, 2017. Earl had a great love for horses and was a trainer for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; (3) sisters, Brenda Ellison, Myra Emfinger and Sandra Duke; brother, J R Compton and parents, Algie Lane Compton and Larita Lucas Compton. He is survived by son, Russell Compton (Betty Gail); daughters, Debra Frye (Wayne), Janice Smith and Margaret Doss; sisters, Edna Stephens (Kermit), Peggy LaGrone (David) and Glenda Cook (Bob); 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 6 pm to 8 pm and the funeral service will be on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 2 pm at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) Chapel. Burial will follow at Enon Cemetery.
