Doris Ann Clark Lawley, 86, of Montevallo, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2020. She was born in Piper, Alabama, and was a 1950 graduate of West Blocton High School. She and Jimmie were stationed in several states and had two overseas assignments during his career in the U.S. Air Force before retiring and returning to Pea Ridge. Through her work at Montevallo Elementary School as a substitute teacher, she touched many lives. Later in life, she also found much happiness from being a caregiver for the elderly. Her joys in life were keeping in touch with friends and family, reading books, listening to Elvis Presley, and most of all, her five grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmie G. Lawley; her parents, James (Newtie) and Mamie Hays Clark; four brothers, Richard Clark, Ralph Clark, Robert Clark, and Jack Clark; and two sisters, Betty Horton and Dorothy Howell. She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Lawley Bentley (Kyle) of Alabaster, and Lisa Lawley Burnette (Mark) of Mobile; grandchildren Austin and Shelby Burnette, and Mason, Jackson, and Merritt Bentley; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Clark of Pea Ridge, and Reba Clark of Moody; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private committal service will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2020. A Life Celebration in her honor for extended family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
