Anne Dean Brazier, age 86, of Shelby, Alabama died on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024. She is survived by her son, James Dean Brazier; daughter-in-law, Cathy Buche Brazier; granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Howell (Jay); great-grandsons, Henry Dean Howell and Griffin Olen Howell; sisters, Margarette Dean Smith and Charilyn Dean Bancroft (Mike); and sisters-in-law, Lillie Reynolds (Dale), Lena Chesser (Thomas), Barbara Bailey (Tommy), Diane Brazier, Teresa Birdyshaw (George) and Ruby Brazier. Anne was born October 28, 1937 to Exa Lee Booker Dean and Melvin Dean. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Curtis Eugene Brazier; sister, Marilyn Dean Stewart; and brother-in-law, Frank Brazier.
Anne graduated from Montevallo University in 1958 with a major in home economics and a minor in biology. After teaching Home Economics in Blue Springs, Alabama for two years, she started working at Southern Research Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a devoted worker, retiring after 50 years at Southern Research. Anne enjoyed cooking, gardening, and visiting with friends and family. She never met a stranger.
Anne will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends as she was a loving and compassionate mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend to all.
A memorial service will be held for Anne on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), with a reception to follow. She will be laid to rest at 11:30 AM at Shelby Memory Gardens in Celera, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donations be made in Anne’s name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
