It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Christopher Michael Ramos, a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He passed away in Monrovia, CA on September 12th at the age of 57 after a three-year battle with cancer, which he fought ‘til his last breath.
Chris was a gifted athlete and excelled in soccer and football. He graduated from St. Francis High School in 1982 and went on to receive his BA in English Literature at USC in 1995. He was passionate about learning and continued his education, receiving an MA in English from Tennessee State University in 1997 and earning another MA, in American Studies, in 1999 from the University of Hawaii.
He married his wife, Simona, in 1997, and they welcomed their only child, Isabella, in 2003.
Chris began teaching English at Citrus College in 1999 and was also an adjunct professor at Mt. San Antonio College and Orange Coast College.
He really loved teaching and was a great mentor for his students. Throughout the years, he received many cards and emails from students thanking him for his encouragement and help in pursuing their goals. He changed the course of many students’ lives. He also was an author and co-wrote a book called “Celluloid Dreams, How Film Shapes America.”
Prior to becoming a teacher, Chris performed as a DJ under the moniker “Kid Ramos,” performing at many Hollywood hot spots and at parties for major celebrities.
Chris will be remembered for his friendly nature, intelligence, and chivalry; his love of food, travel, and music; and his stellar mixology skills. But most of all, he will be remembered for his sense of humor and fun-loving spirit.
Chris is survived by his wife, Simona; daughter, Isabella; mother, Marianne; father, Michael; sister, Carmen and her family; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
