Ann Patricia Shier

Our beloved Ann Patricia Josephine O’Donoghue Shier departed from this world on February 19, 2022. Ann was born in Limerick, Ireland on March 13, 1933 to her loving parents, Bridget and Michael O’Donoghue. Ann is the oldest of nine children, of which she is survived by her sisters Drew, Dierdre , Mary and Catherine and her brother Joe. She was preceded in death by her brothers Willy, Phil and recently Pat.

While it was a crowded house at 11 Rossa Villas in Limerick, it was a loving home with her Mom, Dad, Brothers and Sisters …. who always had each-others-backs. Ann loved her family dearly, including her Grandparents who lived just doors away and with whom she spent a great deal of time. Ann enjoyed her time in choir, going to dances with friends, and laughing through the adventures of her and her siblings.

Ann immigrated to the United States with her Brother Joe and worked at an insurance company in Pasadena. She was introduced by her Brother Phil to her husband-to-be Johnny Shier. Ann and Johnny fell in love, married in 1958 and were married for over 50 years. Ann so loved her soulmate John and was heart-broken when he passed 10 years ago.

Ann and John welcomed their two sons, Jack and Dan, into the world and were two of the most loving and caring parents which two kids could ever imagine.

Ann’s joy and love extended to her grandchildren Zachary, Samantha, Jacob, Shannon, Piper-Jane and Tessa-Ann… as well as her Daughter-in-laws Amy and Terri.

Ann lived life with hope and with a sharp sense of humor. Her smile and laughter were contagious with those around her. She was fully committed to her family, and she had compassion and empathy for others.

Ann is remembered for her kindness, entertaining stories, and love for her family and friends. Rest in peace with your Husband Johnny, Parents, Brothers and friends. You will be missed and never forgotten by those who were graced with your love and great energy. We love you Ann …. our Mom, Nana, Sister and dear Friend.
