Val "Oma" Swonsen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday April 19th, 2024 with her loving husband Dar by her side. Val's life was a testament to love, compassion, and dedication to family.
With her Indonesian heritage, Val embraced her cultural roots with pride and joy. Her love for cooking, especially her legendary Nasi Goreng and Lumpia, was a cherished gift she shared with her family and friends. Val's kitchen was a place of warmth and laughter, where she lovingly prepared meals that not only nourished the body but also fed the soul.
Val's artistic talents were as vibrant as her personality. As an accomplished artist, she expressed her creativity through her paintings, each stroke a reflection of her passion and love for life. Her holiday gifts, adorned with her artwork, were great expressions of her love and connections to her family and friends.
Family was everything to Val. Alongside her husband Dar, she traveled the globe during his 30 years of service in the US Air Force, creating memories and strengthening bonds wherever they went. Val's children, Kristi, Quinn, and Joel, were the center of her world. As "Oma" to her beloved grandchildren Peyton, Tyler, Zeke, Noah, Zoey, and Zenna, she showered them with unconditional love and pride.
Val's caring nature knew no bounds. Whether holding a saw or hammer for her many home remodeling projects or lending a listening ear to a friend, she was always there, ready to offer her support and kindness without hesitation. Her sense of humor and infectious laughter brightened the darkest of days, leaving an indelible mark on all that met her.
Though Val may no longer be with us in body, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were touched by her love and light. May her memory be a blessing and may we carry on her legacy of love, laughter, and compassion in everything we do.
A celebration of Val's life will be held on August 9th at Blue Boy Golf Course in Monroe, WA.
