Dorothy Simon Hogle was born in Snohomish, WA to Ed and Gena Simon. She was their firstborn child, to be followed by her brother, Bob Simon, four years later. She often reminisced about her wonderful family life growing up outside the town of Snohomish. Dorothy attended a one room schoolhouse in Roosevelt which was near Snohomish. She loved school and felt she learned a lot even though there were multiple grade levels in the small building. Dorothy then attended and graduated from Sultan High School. The University of Washington drew her to Seattle where she pledged Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. After four years she graduated with a General Studies degree. She married John Reese Hogle and they started their family. Her three sons were the joy of her life. She loved attending the baseball games, music concerts and soccer games her boys were active in. She also loved spending time at Lake Roesiger with her brother and his family where the cousins all went swimming and water skiing together. Dorothy was a founding member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Shoreline and was very active in the church choir, volunteering in Sunday School and many other areas. She returned to the University of Washington when her youngest son was in kindergarten to earn a teaching credential. She taught elementary school in the Shoreline School District for 22 years. Dorothy loved to travel and visited many places including Europe, southeast Asia, Canada and around the US. She especially loved cruise ships. Dorothy lived a very full life and was loved by many. She is survived by her three sons; John (Dianne) of Arizona, Ed (Andrea) of Snohomish, and Andy (Diane) of Snoqualmie; her brother, Bob Simon (Rusty) of Sultan; eight grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be sent to Lutheran World Relief.
