Mr. William Thomas (Tommy) Williamson, 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Brookdale-Union Park, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born December 17, 1922 in Mecklenburg County son of the late Joseph A. and Sadie Rossick Williamson, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Margaret McGuirt Williamson who died January 29, 2017, also eight siblings: Dorcus Williamson Davis, Edwin Augustus Williams, Martha Williamson Williams, Joseph Augustus Williamson Jr., Eugene Carlton Williamson, Betty Williamson Long, Donald Floyd Williamson and Richard Howie Williamson.
Tommy was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran, and a lifelong associate of McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. He joined McEwen in 1945 and was a partner of the firm for many years. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe.
Memorial Services to celebrate Tom’s life will be Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. in the McEwen Colonial Chapel, with his pastor Dr. Chris Dawson officiating Visitation will be from 2:00pm until 2:45pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at a later date.
Survivors include his niece Bette D. Davis (Bill) of Monroe, his nephew Tom Davis (Jean) of Charlotte, brother-in-law David Curtis McGuire (Janet) of Monroe, a number of special nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Monroe, 109 E. Morrow Ave, Monroe N.C. 28112. The family would like to thank the Brookdale-Union Park Staff for the loving care that was given Tom and Margaret during their stay.
