Virginia Simpson

Jackie’s family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her loved ones that had preceded her in death; Her parents Rayford & Ommie Helms; her husband Lowell Simpson; and her two sisters, Rachel Sherrin & Vicky Purser.

She has held several jobs in her life but none brought her more joy than being a mom. She is survived by her two daughters Shelby Lynn “Shelley” Simpson of Lenexa, KS and Angela Rae “Angie” Gurley (Chad) of Indian Trail, NC.

Mrs. Simpson was born on August 31, 1953 in York County, SC. She married the late Lowell Simpson on September 10, 1971 and together they raised their two daughters in Union County, NC. Jackie loved her family’s vacations in Myrtle Beach and looked forward to enjoying those trips as often as possible, even if she wouldn’t let her toes touch the sand.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, NC. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held following the visitation at 2:00 pm in the McEwen Colonial Chapel with Rev. Tim Helms presiding. Burial will then follow immediately after the service at Price Cemetery.
