Catherine Ritch Privette

She was born in Union County on February 17, 1931, daughter of the late Guy and Sular Ritch. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ray W. Privette; her sister, Maxine Ritch and by her granddaughter, Keri Privette Wetherington.

Catherine was a life-long member of Sardis Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. For many years she cared for her aging parents and sister. Until her husband’s passing, they shared most of their time together and were inseparable. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and took great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always took the time to make her family feel loved and special.

She is survived by her sons, David Privette (Vicki) and Jeffrey Privette (Kitty); her daughters, Amy Schallenkamp (Dan) and Laura West (Danny); her grandchildren, Shannon McSwain, Kristin Byrum (Aaron), Mark Privette, Patrick Schallenkamp, Matthew Schallenkamp (Madison), Emily West and Carson West and by her great-grandchildren, Harbor, Nash and Abel Byrum, Wilson and Leah Wetherington and Liam and Finley McSwain.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00am Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Sardis Baptist Church. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Privette will begin at 11:00am in Sardis Baptist Church’s Sanctuary, 3602 Unionville-Indian Trail Rd. W., Indian Trail, NC 28079. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the Privette family.
