Michael K Wolfer

Michael was predeceased by his wife, Joyce. He is survived by his beloved companion of 14 years, Helen Honorowski. Michael was a wonderful father to Julie Wolfer and her partner Ellie, Jill Kassim and her partner John and former husband Sal Kassim and Kurt Wolfer and his wife Donna. He was a loving grandfather to Licia, Ben, Ryan, Lucas, Joshua and Victoria.

Michael graduated from Ithaca College, pursued a Master’s degree from Fairfield University and his 6th year from University of Bridgeport. During his life, he was a principal, English Department Head and drama director at Masuk High School in Monroe and director of the CAPSULE program at Fairfield Preparatory school. He retired after 42 years in education. The year that he retired, in 1994, he was ordained as a deacon and served at St. Stephen’s in Trumbull and St. Ambrose in Bridgeport. He also worked with the dying at St. Vincent’s hospital.

Michael will always be remembered by his devoted care giving of his wife as she suffered with multiple sclerosis, his profound and unending devotion to and support of his family, his sense of humor, often outrageous; his attentiveness to grammar, his love of reading and life-long learning and his enjoyment of cooking and fondness for sweets. We know that he is happily walking along with his dog Ashley.

The family would like to express deep gratitude for the tender care he received at Bishop Wicke in Shelton and to Delores and Josie and the other home care-givers.

Friends are invited to call from 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday, October 15th at the Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Wednesday, October 16th at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, 6948 Main Street Trumbull, CT 06611. Interment will be private.
