SANZO, GIUSEPPE, Peppino, Papa “Nonno”, age 86 , of Bridgeport, beloved husband, father and grandfather, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Natalina (Sestito) Sanzo. Giuseppe was born in Chiaravalle Centrale, Calabria, Italy and was a Bridgeport resident since 1966. A son of the late Giovanni and Maria Teresa (Rauti) Sanzo, Giuseppe was a retired skilled tradesman in the construction industry and was a veteran of the Italian Military. Giuseppe lived a very wonderful life, full of laughter; always a jokester (sempre scherzando) he will be always remembered in our hearts and dearly missed. He was totally devoted to his loving wife of 60 years and taught his children well about the value of hard work, faith, family, friends, respect and honor. He was a very devout Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of St. Raphael’s Church and St. Margret’s Shrine. Giuseppe was a master of crafting fine wine, gardening and Italian cured meats, always making salami, sausage, capicolllo and soppressata. In addition to his loving wife, Natalina, Giuseppe is survived by his children: John and wife Joanne, Prospect, CT, Tony and wife Lisa, Monroe, CT Maria (Sanzo) and husband Wayne Suchy, Guilford, CT, Joseph, Bridgeport, CT, Natalie (Sanzo) and husband Jeff Pacello, Guilford, CT. Also survived by his adoring Grandchildren, Christina, Jennifer, Kaitlyn and Joseph Sanzo, Michael and Tyler Sanzo, John Wayne and Nicole Suchy and Daniella Pacello. Sisters Antonietta Posca of Trumbull and Fiorina Mammone and husband Pasqualino of Chiaravalle, Calabria, Italy, Survived by brother Giovanni and wife Tita of Arizona, and sister in law “Zia” Maria Sanzo many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews with whom he was very close, here and abroad. He was predeceased by an infant son Giovanni and Grandson John Anthony, two brothers, Ilario and Gregorio Sanzo, a sister-in-law, Caterina Sanzo and a brother-in-law, Lorenzo Posca. Friends may call on Sunday, March 6th from 2:00-6:00 pm, in the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike (Route 111), Monroe, CT. Funeral, Monday, March 7th, 9:15 at Spadaccino, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church, 162 Oak Street, Bridgeport. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT.
