Fior A. Astacio

A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, she leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and resilience. Born on April 3rd, 1948 in the Dominican Republic, Fior Altagracia Astacio Ovalle Yagual was a vibrant force of nature whose love for life touched everyone she met. Her passion for dance and music was infectious, and her kitchen was always filled with the aromas of her delicious cooking.

Fior embraced every moment of her life with a spirited enthusiasm that inspired those around her. As a devoted wife to Jose, a nurturing mother to Kenia, Lucy, Cheo and Nikey, and a loving grandmother to Tanisha, Chris, Gabe, Frances, Ari, Isaiah, Bella and Luis, she was the heart and soul of her family. Her love and dedication were evident in everything she did, from her warm and generous spirit to the countless cherished memories she created. Fior’s legacy will be remembered not only for her culinary delights and dance moves but also for her unwavering strength and kindness. Her life was a testament to the beauty of living fully and loving deeply.

Fior was preceded in death by her youngest daughter Nikol Astacio Vega. She is survived by her husband Jose A. Astacio, daughters Elizabeth Santos (Osvaldo) and Lucenia Tejada, son Jose M. Astacio (Veronica), grandchildren: Tanisha Diaz, Christopher Cruz, Gabriel Diaz, Frances Martinez, Arianna Astacio, Isaiah Vega, Isabella Astacio and Luis Astacio, great-grandchildren: Milana Perez, Gabriel G. Diaz, Grayson Diaz, Azrael Diaz, Noryana Rivera and Luca Rivera plus many nieces, nephews and close family friends who will honor her memory by celebrating the joy and love she brought into their lives.

Friends are invited to a visitation, Sunday, September 15th, 1-4pm at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT. A memorial service to celebrate Fior Astacio’s life will be held on Monday, September 16th at 10:00 am at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son.
