Vivian Fitzgerald Carre – age 89, born in Chapman, AL, raised in Pollard, AL, and a longtime resident of mobile, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012. Mrs. Carre retired from Brookley Air Force Base after many years of service. A 70 year member of the Order of the Easter Star, she was currently active with the John B. Shearer Chapter #517 and was the Past-Grand Organist for the state of Alabama. Mrs. Carre was a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Carre; parents, Emmett and Bessie Fitzgerald; brother, Emmett “Bud” Fitzgerald; sisters, Martha Pearson, Elizabeth Parker, and Dorothy “Dot” Davis; and grandson, Brad Stewart. She is survived by three sons, Steve Brewer (Wendy) of Camp Hill, PA, Mike Carre of Laguna Niguel, CA, and Dan Carre of Morris, AL; daughter, Susan Carre (Trevor) of Mobile; stepsons, Jerry Carre of Mobile and John Carre of Montreal, Canada; stepdaughter, Linda Stewart (William) of Jackson Gap, AL; sister, Estelle Nicholson of Mobile; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and her brothers and sisters of the Eastern Star. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Spiller officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, July 2, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
