He is survived by his sister, Linda Byrd of Shreveport, and brother Gregory Byrd of Mobile, along with many loving Byrd cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Tommy spent most of his life in the Tanner Williams community, surrounded by kind and caring neighbors, family members, and Trinity Baptist Church friends.
In 2002, Tommy and his mother relocated to Shreveport, LA to be closer to his sister. Following the death of his mother in 2005, Tommy joined the ARC of Caddo-Bossier family, which provided many opportunities for him and fostered his independence. Tommy was involved in the Special Olympics program for Caddo Parish and competed in state events in Baton Rouge. He also participated in the workshop program at HAP House on Barksdale Air Force Base, which he loved.
The family would like to thank the many wonderful people in Tanner Williams, C-BARC, and Heritage Manor Stratmore for loving Tommy as much as we did.
