He was born December 20, 1953 in Mobile, Alabama to Joseph Francis Sporna Sr. and Catharine Jordan Sporna. Stan spent much of his adult life traveling the world as a merchant mariner and in his time away from work he engrossed himself in photography, Mardi Gras and enjoyed his favorite pastime, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. Stan attended grade school at St. Monica’s and graduated from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School class of 1972.
He is survived by his sisters, Joanna Hardin, Deborah Hallman, Jane Sporna; brothers, Joseph Sporna Jr., and Peter Sporna. Stan will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and all of their children.
A viewing for family and friends will be held at 9:30 a.m.- 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024 Radney Funeral Home 3155 Dauphin St. Mobile, AL 36606. A graveside service will be provided at the Catholic Cemetery of Mobile.
Pallbearers will be: Don Hallman, Peter Sporna, David Hardin, Aaron Sporna, Reid Cole and Adam Sporna.
It was Stan’s wish that instead of flower, donations could be made to Father Flanagan’s Boys Town @ www.boystown.org.
