Nancy Lee (Kiper) Hopkins was born April 30th, 1944 in Leitchfield, Kentucky. She was a resident of Semmes, Alabama. She passed peacefully on July 14th, 2024. She was the daughter of Floyd R Kiper and Myrtle Kiper.
Nancy’s family owned a grocery store and gas station, and on most days she and her sister, Mary Lou would often be found working there. Nancy earned her degree in education at University of Western Kentucky following the footsteps of her mother.
She met her husband Michael G Hopkins – a traveling salesman and fell in love. They were married in 1965.
Nancy enjoyed teaching and was a great mentor to many students.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She worked tirelessly in their garden, cooking and making candy with family for holidays. Nancy played piano in the church and loved reading her daily scripture. Her other enjoyment was playing cards, doing puzzles and word search. She always had a smile for everyone.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Michael G Hopkins; children, Michael “Mike” (Cindy) Hopkins of Satsuma, AL and Martha “Marty” (Elmer) McFall of Semmes, AL; her sister, Mary Lou Hadley of Kentucky. She had four grandchildren: Trey Hopkins, Sean Bargainear, Jessica Byrd, and Megan McFall. And four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Byrd, Annabelle Byrd, William McFall and Rose McFall. Along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give their sincere appreciation to Saad’s Hospice Health for their love and great care during Nancy’s Final Days, as well as the team from Saad’s Hospice Home Health.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 20th at 9:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street. She will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Memorial Gardens.
