Mina worked for Ruffin Graham Dairy on Moffett Road, The Mulherin Custodial Home on Boykin Boulevard, and Dollar General on D.I.P. She was known for her cooking, her kindness, and her Christ-like spirit. “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse David Layton and Fannie Davis Layton; her spouse, Cleveland T. Shiver; her son, Thomas Mitchell Shiver; thirteen brothers and sisters as well as their spouses.
She is survived by one daughter, Margie (Dennis) Schwarz; three grandchildren, Tracy (Richard) Conrad, Joseph Kelly (Amanda Bradley), and Jordan (Alyssa) Kelly; five great-grandchildren, Camryn Marie Conrad, Zoey Elizabeth Fowler, Adam James Kelly, Adelyn Ann Kelly, and Scarlet Louise Kelly; one great-great grandchild, Robert Mitchell Conrad; one sister, Eloise Layton Brown; one sister-in-law, Juanita Layton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family is most appreciative to Kindred Hospice, Kindred at Home, Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, Springhill Medical Center E.R., and University Medical Center Trauma.
Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 1-2 p.m. with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens on Three Notch Road.
