Maggie Jewel Wiggins Buchanan, was born In Philadelphia, Mississippi to James Ollie Wiggins and Susie Mae Mixon Wiggins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her 3 brothers Charlie Billy Wiggins, Jimmy “Jr” Wiggins, JL Wiggins, and her 3 sisters, Helen Jenkins, Estelle Wiggins and Nancy Wiggins.
She is survived by her daughter Sandy (Steve) Lockwood of Mobile, Al and her son Jimmy Dewayne (Laurie) Coxwell of TN. Six grandchildren, Joel Jr “Bo” (Rischa) Heape of Grand Island , Fl. , Josh (Kelsey) Heape, Mobile, Al, Chris (Joy) Lockwood. Spring Hill, TN, Jon (Cathy) Lockwood, New Orleans, La. , Sara Rogers, Opelika, Nicholas Isahm, TN. 7 great-grandchildren, Kensley Rogers, Kolby Walton, Drew Gunthorpe, Ella, William, Mia and Isaac Lockwood and 1 great-great granddaughter due in February, Adleigh.
Jewel, as she was known by family and friends, worked at the Dairy Queen in Prichard for 18 years making lifelong friendships and memories. She and her late husband traveled the country for many years as tractor trailer owner/operators enjoying the sights of this great country. She later was a waitress at the Captains Table on the Causeway. She stated many times in her final years how much she missed working and meeting people from everywhere.
She’ll be remembered for many things , but some of her greatest attributes were her ability to love, to feed and to house all in need.
We would like to express our deep gratitude and love to the Little Sisters and staff for loving our mother in such a special way. Words cannot express how precious it was to witness your God given gifts in preparing our dear mother for Heaven. We love you all deeply.
