Lynn Willingham Green (Lynn) passed away peacefully at her home on August 30, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Edward Jackson (Jack) Green; her parents Weyman and Dorothy Willingham; sisters, Jane Weems (Sterling) and Brenda Prater. She is survived by her sisters Gail Payne, Wendy Scott (Paul), brother Weyman Willingham, Jr. (Jan), daughter Kimberley Green Smithers: sons; Edward Jackson Green, Jr. (Meg), Miles Tyler Green (Hope), and Brooks Keaton Green (Hallet); eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Lynn was born in St. Petersburg, Fla on November 2, 1937. She grew up in a large family that was full of life and love for each other. She was a graduate of St. Petersburg High and The University of Alabama, where she met the love of her life, Jack. They were married in June 1959 in a double wedding with her sister Jane. They lived in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Killeen, Texas and Birmingham, Alabama, before settling in Mobile, Ala. Her priority in life was her husband Jack, family and helping others. She was a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church (her home away from home) and active participant in anything related to the community. She was especially passionate about Meals on Wheels, the Inner-City Mission and Camp Rap A Hope. She was a wonderful mother who exemplified the “Golden Rule” and was a great example to us all.
Lynns’ life was based on her favorite quote “Do all the good you can, for as many people as you can, for as long as you can”. She did all she could, and can now rest in peace.
The family will be forever grateful for the loving care she received during the last three years of her life from Ms. Azaline Monroe, Ms. Kenyetta Gilmore, Ms. Geraldine Craig, Ms. Christine Manassa and Ms. Yolanda Singleton. The family is also grateful to Vanessa Powe, her hospice nurse, who helped her through the end of her life and provided tremendous comfort to the entire family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to any Alzheimer’s research.
A memorial celebrating Lynns’ life will be held at a later date.
