Our devoted and loving Son, Brother and Uncle passed away on June 2nd with his family attending. In his youth, Leslie was an expert marksman and member of the Chickasaw Gun Club and Winchester Claybird League. He enjoyed hunting, but fishing was his passion, and he passed that on to the next generation and their families to follow. Teaching his nephews, nieces and cousins how to fish, ski and enjoy our beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Some of our favorite memories are the summers spent with him in Bear Point.
Leslie was also an avid gardener and in retirement spent his time outside adding to his collection of plants to create flora that would feed the bee population. Leslie shared the plants he cultivated, giving each family a camellia bush, the Alabama state flower, for our homes.
Leslie loved his family. He retired from International Paper with almost 50 years of service to care for his Mother. And even in dementia care He was always looking out for his sister, Marie. Leslie is preceded in death by his father, Leslie Crane, Sr., his mother, Edwina Kramer Crane, and his sister, Edwina "Marie" Crane Gulsby (William Houston Gulsby, Sr."Bill"). The family would like to thank the staff of Proveer of Port City Memory Care and Saads The Retreat for their gracious care that allowed our Uncle to have dignity in spite of the disease of dementia. Uncle Leslie will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews: Sharyn (Greg) Fillingim, Billy (Darlene) Gulsby and Vicki (Richard) Burk, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. HIs quiet, gentle spirit will be missed and we pray our Lord will let his legacy of love, devotion and faithfulness continue for generations to come.
Visitation for Leslie will be held from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
